On one hand, the Group is autonomous and can decided whatever it pleases. And, it can change again if their decision seems to not be right for the group. The group also needs to take into account the other traditions and guidelines, and determine if anonymity is indeed a risk. The mom's paid the sitter personally. So probably any mtg could do it if there was enough interest. Sunday morning Amazing Grace -we had a room down the hall that someone with kids could sit in and have a mtg. with other members who chose to sit at that table. Hope this offers some options. However, we had to stop for three reasons: 1). the church required the sitter be 18 yrs. or older, 2). when we attempted to get volunteers from the meeting, it was not very successful, even though people said they were for it. 3). at other times, we had a sitter (during the summer when kids were not in school) and no need for babysitting came, and we were paying them $20 just for showing up. I can so relate to the fear that drives a person to their first meeting. I sure know that feeling, and after 2 years in the program, I too can say, "Thank God I am not the same person who walked through the doors of Al-Anon."
