Do you have any meetings anywhere with babysitting available during the day?
A very good question indeed. There are people who can attend meetings with available childcare who otherwise may not be able to. If your group provides this service, please let others know. If not, perhaps your group may want to take a group conscience in order to provide babysitting for those who need it.

There is babysitting at the Monday morning Beyond the Steps meeting at 11:30 a.m. If you are planning on attending, please let us know so we will be sure to have babysitting available. ruthd@oaklandafg.org
Friday morning Christ church of Cranbrook used to hire a babysitter. The mom’s paid the sitter personally. So probably any mtg could do it if there was enough interest. Sunday morning Amazing Grace -we had a room down the hall that someone with kids could sit in and have a mtg. with other members who chose to sit at that table. Hope this offers some options. I feel for those mom’s and never mind sharing a table with kids.

Each group is autonomous. If a group has a need to provide babysitting, they should decide in their group conscience meeting. Refer to your Service Manual – page 96 – for this topic. If agreed by the group, they can use group funds to handle. As previously stated, there are other options available. Each group needs to make their own decision.
This topic would be also good to discuss at our monthly district group meetings. Let’s bring up in November.
We had babysitting on Friday 9:30 at a Peace of Serenity for many years. However, we had to stop for three reasons: 1). the church required the sitter be 18 yrs. or older, 2). when we attempted to get volunteers from the meeting, it was not very successful, even though people said they were for it. 3). at other times, we had a sitter (during the summer when kids were not in school) and no need for babysitting came, and we were paying them $20 just for showing up.
I don’t mean to be negative, because I know there is a need, and I hope something can materialize.
